Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15 to honor the independence of Hispanic countries and lasts through October 15 as the history, culture, and contributions of Latino Americans are recognized.

Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to recognize and celebrate the many contributions, diverse cultures, and extensive histories of the American Latino community.

You will see community festivals, events, documentaries, musical tributes, exhibits, and profiles during this month-long celebration that now represents the largest minority group in North America.

A 1997 notice by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget defined Hispanic or Latino persons as being “persons who trace their origin or descent to Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Central and South America, and other Spanish cultures.” … People who identify their origin as Hispanic, Latin,o or Spanish may be of any race.”
